Algonquin Township area property tax assessments were recently published in the newspaper as required by law. There is only a 30 day window every year to appeal your property assessment. Once this deadline is passed, the next opportunity will not be until next year. The deadline to appeal your 2017 assessment is December 23rd, 2016.
Your property tax assessment determines how much of the property tax levy you pay. Local governing bodies (i.e. schools, villages, park districts) request the taxes and your property assessment determines how large a share you pay.
Increased assessments and higher levies will increase your property tax bill.
You may only file your appeal electronically if you are using one of the e-forms listed below. All other appeals must be hand delivered or mailed. Be sure to review the Appeal Instructions and Guidelines documents listed below before starting your appeal.
Some browsers have limited support for the filling out and submitting of these forms. If you have difficulty, right-click on the appeal form, then choose “Save link as…” to save it to an easily found location on your computer. Opening the file directly from your computer should allow you to successfully fill and submit the form.
When sending photos in the form of JPEG files make sure that the PIN and comparable numbers are marked on each photo so that the Board can easily identify them.
