Earlier today, hardcore antigun extremists in the Illinois House introduced HB4359 which would require you to surrender your FOID card and firearms if your name ever appears on the government’s “NO FLY LIST.”  Obama and the gun grabbers would like you to believe that people on this list are too dangerous to own guns.  If one accepts that simplistic view, then HB4359 might make sense to them.  However, the thinking person will have a lot of serious questions about the no-fly list.

NO-FLY LIST Q&A:

1.  Q: How does a person get on the No-Fly List?  A: That’s a secret.
2.  Q:  Who adds names to the No-Fly List?  A: Bureaucrats and political appointees.
3.  Q:  By whose authority are names added to the No-Fly List?  A: That’s a secret.
4.  Q:  Can a person’s name be placed on the No-Fly List for political reasons?  A: That’s a secret.
5.  Q:  Does a person have to be convicted of a crime to be on the No-Fly List?  A: No.
6.  Q:  Is a person whose name is on the No-Fly List given the opportunity to face their accuser(s)?  A: No.
7.  Q:  Does a person’s name remain on the list forever?  A: Probably.
8.  Q:  How many names were on the No-Fly List when Obama took office?  A: 50,000.
9.  Q:  How many names are on the No-Fly List today?  A: 750,000.
10. Q:  Is the No-Fly List a dangerous affront to liberty?  A: Yes.

WHO ARE THE LEGISLATORS RESPONSIBLE FOR HB4359?

Mexican Drug Cartels In Chicago?

In parts of Chicago violence and the drug trade are part of the culture. – Allen

Why Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel Loves Selling Drugs in Chicago
Chicago Magazine

Like the top cartel bosses, the Flores brothers rarely handled the drugs themselves. Rather, they arranged for handoffs to smaller wholesalers who would sell bulk quantities down the drug chain. Nor did the twins personally deal with street-level dealers—a popular misconception reinforced by police and drug enforcement officials, who often link the cartels to the city’s gangs and the deadly violence they perpetrate.

Law enforcement’s logic seems to be that because Mexican cartels supply nearly all of Chicago’s drugs, and because the gang members who peddle the drugs are responsible for 80 percent of the murders and shootings in the city, the cartels are responsible for bringing the violence of the drug wars in Mexico to the streets of Chicago.

But are drug cartels the primary cause of Chicago’s violent crime problem? Some criminologists say—and simple logic suggests—that they’re not. Pressed for a specific example of a direct cartel-to-gang pipeline, Andrew Bryant of the narcotics division of the Cook County state’s attorney’s office concedes: “I can’t give you a chain all the way from the top to the bottom.” The connections between a cartel and street gangs, he says, are very loose.

Police Officers’ Perspectives on Gun Control

by Doug Wyllie | PoliceOne

In March, PoliceOne conducted the most comprehensive survey ever of American law enforcement officers’ opinions on the topic gripping the nation’s attention in recent weeks: gun control.

More than 15,000 verified law enforcement professionals took part in the survey, which aimed to bring together the thoughts and opinions of the only professional group devoted to limiting and defeating gun violence as part of their sworn responsibility.

Totaling just shy of 30 questions, the survey allowed officers across the United States to share their perspectives on issues spanning from gun control and gun violence to gun rights.

Rahm Trades Fiduciary Responsibility For Rhetoric

This morning Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel said he was ordering all city pension funds to divest any investments they have in gun manufacturers

“We’re going to divest of any investment in any gun manufacturer,” he said.
He said he would lead a charge of mayors across the country urging them to do the same.

Mayor Rahm Emanuel today ordered Comptroller Amer Ahmad to request a portfolio analysis from the five pension and retirement funds for city employees to determine if fund managers hold underlying debt or equity positions in companies that manufacture or sell assault weapons as the first step towards removing these companies from the investment plans.

Will Burns, Alderman of the 4th Ward, agrees. “The damage caused by these weapons is far greater than any return on investment.”

Please remind Mayor Rahm and Alderman Burns that according to the 2011 murder analysis report (latest report available), only 1 murder of the 433 committed in 2011 involved a rifle. Clearly Chicago’s problem is gang members using handguns, NOT assault rifles.
