NORTHWEST HERALD ENDORSES ALLEN SKILLICORN FOR STATE REPRESENTATIVE!

THE NORTHWEST HERALD ENDORSEMENT MAKES A TRIFECTA OF ENDORSEMENTS FOR ALLEN SKILLICORN!

“A FISCAL CONSERVATIVE, SKILLICORN OPPOSES ANY NEW TAX HIKES AND WANTS TO REFORM THE STATE’S SCHOOL FUNDING FORMULA AWAY FROM PROPERTY TAXES AND REMAIN REVENUE-NEUTRAL. HE ALSO WANTS TO INVESTIGATE OVERHAULING MEDICAID.”

Full endorsement from the Northwest Herald Editorial Board:

“Republican state Rep. Mike Tryon announced in June 2015 that he would not seek re-election, ending a 12-year run in the General Assembly.

East Dundee village trustee Allen Skillicorn, a Republican, faces off against Democrat Nancy Zettler, a retired attorney from Algonquin, for Tryon’s seat.

A fiscal conservative, Skillicorn opposes any new tax hikes and wants to reform the state’s school funding formula away from property taxes and remain revenue-neutral. He also wants to investigate overhauling Medicaid, and he supports Gov. Bruce Rauner’s Turnaround Agenda.

Skillicorn and Zettler largely agree on reforms to the criminal justice system, specifically with steering nonviolent offenders toward treatment as a way to reduce an overflowing state prison population.

Illinois’ 66th House District includes portions of Huntley, Crystal Lake, Lake in the Hills, Algonquin, and Lakewood, along with portions of northern Kane County.

We endorse Skillicorn.”
