SKILLICORN RACING TO HELP HOMELESS PETS AT VIR

Allen Skillicorn, East Dundee Village Trustee and candidate for State Representative, teamed up with Rescue Pet Motorsports to raise awareness for the thousands of pets that are waiting to be adopted from local pet shelters across the country. Rescue Pet Motorsports uses racing to spread the word of Petfinder.com and all the pet rescue and shelter organizations. This year the ‘Never Shop, Always Adopt’ Race Schedule included the Ultimate Track Car Challenge at Virginia International Raceway (also known as VIR)...

Trustee Allen Skillicorn, a veteran experienced racer and 2 time National Auto Sport Association (www.nasaproracing.com) National Champion was piloting the Rescue Pet Motorsports Corvette C6R race car with over 700hp. Allen and the Corvette reached speeds in excess of 165mph down the flowing straightaways of VIR!

“Rescue Pet Motorsports and Team Skillicorn are committed to being competitive and are proud to be one of the fastest cars on the track, scoring a 9th place finish in our first visit to this event and track.”, said Skillicorn. The trip was not without adversity. Minor mechanical bugs and tire issues limited time on the track. “Next year we are coming back and aiming for the top step of the podium. We also want to remind people that thousands of pets are dropped off at shelters across the country every day. Because there is such an overabundance of pets, I always remind people NEVER SHOP, ALWAYS ADOPT!”, said Allen Skillicorn, driver of the Corvette C6R racer.

Virginia International Raceway is a 3.27 mile road course with long straightaways and tight, rolling sections. VIR is located just north of the North Carolina border near Danville, VA. VIR hosts amateur and professional automobile and motorcycle racing events.
